| So what is the dn-hd2500 !? | The DN-HD2500 is really a rackmounted multimedia DJ unit, that acts not only as a head unit for a standard 4000/4500 cd player, but also encoporated an internal hard disk, and features USB2.0 connectivity, allowing you to connect almost any external storage device to the unit, allowing it to read MP3's off various formats. |
| Whats the price !? | The retail price in the UK is around 799 inc vat |
| When is this baby out !? | The dn-hd2500 will be out February 2007 |
| Is the software free? | Yes, provided software is free, but there is only a PC verson, no MAC version. |
| What does the software do ? | You can Edit tags, Make/Import Playlists, Move Files amongst other things |
Functionality
| How does is store CUE points and Hot Starts | Memo data for an MP3 file is stored within the file, so you can take memo data with you to another dn-hd2500 |
| What Pitch resolution can I expect ? | The pitch res for the CD Player is determined by the drive you use, i.e. the 4000/4500.
The pitch resolution for Hard Disk and USB devices will tbe 0.02 and 0.05. |
| What pitch ranges can we choose? | 4, 10, 16, 24, 50, 100% (mp3 will not reach +100%, but close) |
| How many different effects does it have | Seven on-board effects, same as S3500/S1000/D6000/ |
| How long is it going to take to load a song's cue, hot cues or loops once they are save? | About 1 second |
| Does the unit have a BPM match button to the other deck like most computer software? | No, it's all up to your skills just like our current players. |
| Does it have Key Adjust ( Master Tempo ) ? | Yes, but no Key Control |
| does it count the BPM live like the S1000's? | Yes |
| Can you make play lists? | Yes you can make them on the fly if you wish, or with the PC Music Manager Software |
| Does the BPM read from the id tag ? | We will offer a 4-way BPM counter> Auto, Manual, Tap & Tag reading Tag overrides the other 3 if found, but you still can use any of the 3 at any time. |
| Does the hd2500 support waitlists ? | No not yet, but this feature may be included in a future upgrade |

| Can you connect an IPOD ? | Yes |
| What formats does external storage need to be in ? | Currently the DN-HD2500 supports FAT16 / FAT32 only. There is no Mac HFS support currently. |
| Can I connect a keyboard | Yes a USB keyboard can be connected to help you find tracks quicker |
| Will one USB source be able to stream to both sides of the deck ? | Yes |
| Can we use it with others cd players ? | No, only the DN-D4000 and DN-D4500 units are compatible. 6000 and 9000 units will not work |
| How many USB devices can I hook up ? | You can connect up to an 8 port Hub, but only 5 ports will be recognised by the player, 4 devices and 1 keyboard. |
| Does it play CD' ? | The Unit doubles up as a head unit for the 4500 ( not provided ), so yes you can attach a standard DN-D4500 cd tray to the unit and play cd's as normal |
| Can you hook the dn-hd2500 up to an external display ? | No this will never be possible, even through the USB port |
| Will we ever be able to connect a dn-d6000 !? | No, the connector and the protocol are different, sorry ! |
MP3 Questions
| Would it be possible to store cue points and hot starts for mp3 files? | Yes, memo's and cue points are stored to the file this time |
| Can I use VBR MP3's ? | Yes the VBR format is supported |
| Can we explore the MP3's in a File Explorer Mode (i.e. ignore the tags)? | Well, yes...just say NO when prompted to make the ID3 tag database |
| Can it read iPod playlists and support un-encrypted AAC (m4P itunes files)? | We only support mp3 and wav in this model, all other files are ignored |
| Any plans/possibilites to support other formats? Ogg/vorbis and/or FLAC | No, MP3 & Wav only for the life of the product only |
